The South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Foundation (SCRLF) awards scholarships each year to students who show commitment to careers in hospitality — like restaurants, foodservice, lodging, and tourism.
Over the past 19 years, we’ve awarded more than $285,000 to 227 students statewide.

What to know before applying
Who’s Eligible
To apply, you must:

Be a South Carolina resident or attend a SC school for hospitality & tourism.

Be currently working in hospitality (like foodservice or lodging) and/or enrolled in a related field like culinary arts, baking & pastry, or tourism.

Plan to study at an accredited post-secondary institution (undergrad or master’s).
What You’ll Need
Have these items ready before you start:

Completed online application (due May 1st).

Current transcript (must be uploaded).

Authentic essay (500-1,000 words that are not AI generated) about:

- Why you’re applying and why you should receive a scholarship.
- What career path in hospitality you plan to pursue.
- Your future goals.
Award Information

Award amounts vary each year based on donations and participation.

Scholarships are sent directly to your school after enrollment is confirmed.

Funds are split: half for fall semester, half for spring semester.
Judging Criteria
The committee reviews each application for:

Quality & presentation (spelling, punctuation, etc.)
-
Industry-related work experience
-
GPA
-
Essay strength and word count
-
ProStart or LMP enrollment (if applicable)

Notification: By June 15th (email only)

Checks sent: July/August (to your school)

Recipients may be recognized at a scholarship event.
